Hundreds of people have been out of their homes for months while the collapsing cavern owned by Texas Brine keeps swallowing more land. Property owners have complained that Governor Jindal has had time to travel the country but not come to Bayou Corne.
Assumption Emergency Preparedness Director John Boudreaux says members of the governor's staff have been there.
"Now, I don't say he's uninformed because I'm sure those agents have reported to him," Boudreaux said of the governor, "but we're definitely going to encourage that that continue so we can see this thing through."
Boudreaux says they hope to get the governor's help in trying to convince Texas Brine to buy out the evacuated property owners.
"We'd hope that he can encourage that and I'm sure we will discuss that topic," said Boudreaux.
