Gretna cops: Burglars stole $100K from vehicle

The Gretna Police Department today released details about the search for two suspects who stole $100,000 in cash from a parked vehicle.

Police say it happened at noon on Monday, February 11, in the 500 block of Gretna Boulevard.  According to Deputy Chief of Police Anthony Christiana, detectives have determined that the two men "followed the victim throughout the metro area awaiting the opportunity to commit the burglary."

Christiana says the men depicted in these photos worked together to conduct surveillance of the parking lot before shattering the window driver's-side rear door to get into the vehicle.

Suspect #1 is described as a white male, approximately 50-60 years old, 170 to 180 pounds, gray hair, black coat, plaid shirt, blue jeans, and tennis shoes.  Suspect #2 is described as a white male, 30 years old, 5'6'' to 5'8'', dark hair, wearing a sweat shirt and blue jeans.

The vehicle is a 2001-2003 Dodge Caravan, possibly blue in color.

Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call the Gretna Police Department at 504-266-4374.
