Attorneys for River Bird Landfill CFO Fred Heebe today released the following statement about the abrupt end of the federal case against Heebe and others:
"We were informed this morning by the Public Integrity Section of the U.S. Department of Justice that the federal government will not be pursuing any charges against Fred Heebe. We recognize the hard work done by Section CHief Jack Smith, Deputy CHief Peter Koski, and other members of the Public Integrity Section, which allowed the office to reach this conclusion. Mr. Heebe and his family are grateful that this matter has been concluded. Schonekas, Evans, McGoey & McEaching and Williams & Connolly, LLP are proud to have represented Mr. Heebe in this matter.
There will be no further comment on this matter by Mr. Heebe or his counsel.
