NOPD searching for missing teacher

The NOPD is asking for the public’s assistance in locating 26-year-old Terry Lyn Monnette, a local teacher who was last seen on Saturday morning at Parlay’s Bar in the 800 block of Harrison Avenue.

Monnette’s mother advised police that at approximately 3:30 A.M., Monnette had gone to the bar with a few acquaintances and was last seen sleeping in her vehicle in the rear parking lot.  Monnette allegedly told her acquaintances that she was going to sleep in her car before driving home due to having consumed alcoholic beverages.

Police say a witness later detectives that he observed Monnette in the parking lot at approximately 4:00 A.M. with an unknown man.

Investigators say Monnette has not been seen nor heard from since and this is uncharacteristic of her.

Monnette is described as an African-American female, approximately 5’8” tall, weighing 180 pounds and having a light complexion with long brown hair.  She was last seen wearing a pink and yellow sweater with blue jeans.  Monnette has a tattoo on her left leg.

Monnette’s vehicle is described as a black 2012 two-door Honda Accord with a Louisiana license plate number “WUN494.”

Anyone with information about Monnette is asked to contact the NOPD at 504-821-2222.
