Suspicious "device" leads to evacuation

New Orleans police have evacuated the neighborhood around the Whitney Bank in the 3300 block of Canal Street.

Officer Garry Flot says an officer working at the bank "found a device" in a vehicle.

"Local area neighbors are being evacuated at this time," Flot told WWL First News in an email.

He says traffic has been rerouted and streetcars have been stopped at that point.
