CCC toll vote recount results expected Tuesday

Results of Saturday's recount of ballots cast in last fall's Crescent City Connection toll vote won't be released until Tuesday, because of the Presidents' Day holiday, on Monday.

Election officials reportedly spent about three hours Saturday, reviewing the mail-in and provisional ballots cast in November.

The re-count took place behind closed doors in the New Orleans Council Chambers at City Hall.

Multiple media outlets were denied access to the recount process.

Judge William Morvant, from the 19th Judicial District in Baton Rouge, is expected to give a ruling on the re-count this Tuesday.

A 20-year-extension of the bridge tolls passed by only 18 votes last fall, with more than 308,000 ballots cast and counted.
A judge ordered the recount because of the narrow margin of victory in the election and claims that early votes were not tallied correctly.
