According to a NOPD spokesman, 20-year-old Marvin Davis entered a business on Bullard Avenue wearing a mask and brandishing a gun. Davis allegedly leaped across the counter and demanded money from the cashier.
Police say Davis made off with $4,000 in cash and two bottles of "Ace of Spades" champagne valued at $1,000.
During the robbery, Davis's mask fell off, and the store employee recognized him as a regular customer, according to investigators.
Despite the fact that the employee had seen his face, Davis reportedly returned to the same store about 4 hours later, where he was recognized as the robber from earlier in the day.
Store employees immediately called 911, and responding officers arrested Davis without incident a short distance from the store.
Officer Frank Robertson says a search of Davis's home turned up the stolen champagne and cash, as well as the gun and clothes described by the store employee.
Robertson says the suspect had no prior adult arrest record.
