Superdome, Entergy vow to find answers and solution

Entergy New Orleans executives and officials with the company that manages the Mercedes-Benz Superdome Tuesday announced they are hiring independent experts to investigate the source of Sunday night's power loss.

 

Charles rice, the head of Entergy New Orleans, says he's as anxious as anyone to get answers.

 

"We will leave no stone unturned as to find out what exactly happened," he said during a briefing at New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu's office Tuesday afternoon.

 

Doug Thornton, executive vice president with SMG, the management group that oversees the Superdome, says he and Rice both agreed hiring independent experts would get them best results.

 

"We need to figure out what the root cause of this is and fix it," said Thornton. "It needs to be dealt with so that it doesn't happen again."

 

Thornton said the decision to hire an independent expert was not a sign of any discord between stadium management and Entergy, but rather a desire to make sure the job is done transparently.

 

"Entergy's our partner here in the city and it's important for us to have total transparency," Thornton said. "We have agreed among ourselves that we'll exchange records."
