Free Super Bowl concerts start tonight on riverfront

More fun to enjoy in the midst of Super Bowl week starts tonight, and it won't cost you a whole lot, either. The Super Bowl host committee is presenting free concerts in Woldenberg Park.

"Verizon Super Bowl Boulevard" debuts tonight at 5:00 p.m.  The host committee wanted to offer a good time not just to visitors, but also the locals, and showcase some of Louisiana's best local artists and food!

"Several stages with music playing throughout the day," said Mark Romig with the host committee. "It's really just a nice way to spend some time with your family, see the visitors in town and just enjoy a beautiful scene."

Tonight's entertainment includes the likes of Bonerama, Amanda Shaw and more.  At 6:30, amid a pyrotechnic display, the roman numerals XLVII -- 47 - arrive via barge.  They're about 100 feet long and 30 feet high, serving as a  visual symbol of the Super Bowl.
