Leaders hope New Orleans is a super inspiration

Local leaders say the Super Bowl is giving New Orleans a chance to show the world how a city can rise from the ashes... or from the moldy flood mess that Katrina left behind, as the case may be.

"We should be an inspiration for the rest of the country," Super Bowl Host Committee Co-Chair Mary Matalin insisted. "The world and the country need to know."

She says while Much of the world still pictures of a city of devastation and under water when thinking about New Orleans, now they are seeing an amazing story of recovery and resiliency.

Mayor Mitch Landrieu shares that sentiment.

"From being in the water and being in the bottom, to being in the sunshine and being in the top," the mayor described.  "We're proud of it, we're thankful, we're blessed to have the opportunity to have suffered through what we have gone through and to have the opportunity to show the rest of the nation what it looks like when we come together as one people."

He also hopes it inspires others who suffer through tragedy.

Landrieu said, "There is no better story of people who where down, who got back up."
