Child missing after leaving for school Wednesday

New Orleans cops want help finding a missing child.

"Police are asking for the public's assistance in locating 9-year-old Jo Jo Anderson who was last seen by his mother at approximately 7:30 A.M. [Wednesday], leaving her house in the 1400 block of Arts to board the school bus at North Claiborne Avenue and Music Street," NOPD Officer Garry Flot said in a news release. "His mother advised that she became concerned when she was unable to contact him and has not seen or heard from him since."

Flot says the family has not seen Anderson since he left for school yesterday.

"Jo Jo Anderson is described as an African-American male with black hair and is approximately 4' tall and about 110 pounds.  He was last seen wearing his school uniform, a powder blue polo shirt, dark blue pants, a grey sweater and black and red tennis," Flot said.

Police say that anyone with information on the whereabouts of Jo Jo Anderson is asked to call 821-2222.
