A line of nasty weather is pushing through Southeast Louisiana this morning.  WWL TV Meteorologist Laura Buchtel says it will bring brief, heavy downpours and high winds.

"Damaging straight line winds, possibly in excess of 60 miles per hour are the biggest threat," Buchtel told WWL First news.

You could see the storms approaching on National Weather Service radar (above from 6:30am).

The good news, she explained, is that the line is moving quickly and won't linger.

"It's going to be a quick burst," Buchtel forecasted.  "As we get into the afternoon, skies clearing and getting much colder."

She says by noon, the rain is gone and the temps will drop like a rock.

"It happens in 20 minutes," she warned.  We will go from 70's to 50's very quickly.

After the rain, the wind sticks around.

"It's going to be breezy through out the afternoon," Buchtel warned that winds will be over 30 miles per hour all day.

She is concerned about all the live TV broadcast sets along with tents, banners, signs and more set up for the Super Bowl.

"Hopefully they can withstand 35 mile an hour winds."
