Free bikes to get around Super Bowl events

Want a free bike to use to get around to all the Super Bowl activities?  You can.

A news release says,  "Come down to one of the Bicycle Share Kiosks at Riverwalk's Julia Street entrance near the New Orleans Morial Convention Center or Riverwalk's Canal Street entrance near the World Trade Center, check out a B-Cycle bike, and ride to the NFL Experience and Super Bowl Blvd activities for free!"

The Super Bowl Host Committee, Entergy, the Downtown Development District, and Bike Easy are providing the free bicycles and free covered bike valet parking if you bring your own bicycle too.

Officials say there are lots of extra people joining the locals in town for all the fun.

"We're going to see about 150,000 people in the city of New Orleans throughout Super Bowl week, 75,000 or so fans that come to the game and another 75,000... to experience the NFL Experience and Verizon Super Bowl Blvd.," Mark Romig with the Super Bowl Host Committee said.

The Regional Transit Authority is offering alternatives to driving too.

"We will provide additional and enhanced streetcar services and bus services."  The RTA's Justin Augustine says they are also offering discounted rates and day passes for the Super Bowl weekend.

He says for Friday through Sunday, all day passes are available for $3 per day.
