LSU comes up a little short at Kentucky

How it happened: The Tigers were down by 14-points in the 1st half, but rallied to make a game out of it in the 2nd half in one of the toughest places to play in college basketball. However, the 1st half deficit was too much to overcome and lost to Kentucky 75-70.  The Tigers were able to cut the Wildcats lead down to one-point with three seconds left, but Kentucky would hit free throws the rest of the way to win by five points.

Most Valuable Tigers: Johnny O' Bryant had his third straight double-double, 21 points and 12 rebounds in 39 minutes. Eight of the rebounds were on the offensive end. The 21 points ties a career-high and he did it in front of a bunch of NBA scouts at Rupp Arena. Anthony Hickey also had a nice game, with 15 points. Hickey hit four 3-pointers in his home state.

Stat of the game: Kentucky had 46 points in the paint. The Wildcats were able to get out to an early lead, because LSU didn't put up much resistance and allowed Kentucky to get a lot of easy buckets around the basket.

What it means: Coach Johnny Jones does not accept moral victories, but you have to give credit to LSU for battling back in this game. O' Bryant was aggressive and he looks like he's finally healthy, playing his best stretch of basketball in an LSU uniform. The Tigers are now 1-and-5 in league play.

Up next: LSU returns to the Maravich Center to host 22nd ranked Missouri on Wednesday night. Missouri will be looking for their first road win in the SEC.
