Traditional public schools will now have football playoffs and championships separate from private and public schools listed as "select admission."
The new system, featuring "select school" playoffs and "nonselect school playoffs, will start next season following a 206-119 vote at today's LHSAA meeting.
Some who voted in favor have long complained that their teams play at a disadvantage against schools who can recruit across district lines.
The new system will have the regular season matchups played in the traditional manner along district lines, but in the post-season, the two playoff systems will then host respective school systems.
