Saints quarterback Drew Brees and Head Coach Sean Payton joined WWL's Bobby Hebert and Deke Bellavia for interviews on Wednesday.
Drew, calling in from the Pro Bowl in Hawaii, said he's pumped to have his coach back with the team.
"Obviously we're excited to get Coach Payton back earlier than expected. We know he's ready to get back to work like we're ready to get back to work," Brees said. "Obviously expectations will be where they always are, which are very, very high."
Coach Payton, at work at the Senior Bowl in Mobile, said he's already working with his staff to evaluate current personnel as well as draft prospects.
"It’s great to be back I feel great, healthy, rested...It's been a crazy four, five days with the amount of travel I've done.
What was the hardest part of being away for so long?
"Being away for this long, you go through a lot of diff emotions. Seeing your team, pulling for them, and watching them in games when they struggle," Payton said. "The idea of being eight months removed, not being able to talk to your closest friends...That part of it was the biggest challenge of being removed from the team.
