Tigers finally get their first SEC victory

How it happened: LSU got off to a slow start, as they fell behind 19-5. But the Tigers ended the first half on a 10-0 run to get within one point. The 2nd half was close throughout, but the Bayou Bengals got some clutch buckets down the stretch to win 58-54. LSU is 10-and-6 overall, 1-and-4 in the SEC.

Most valuable Tigers: Shavon Coleman came off the bench to score 17 points and had three steals. Coleman had a couple of lay-ups in the final couple of minutes to give the Tigers the lead for good. Johnny O' Bryant (above) had a huge dunk and hit a couple of free throws in the final minute. O' Bryant had his second straight double-double, 14 points and 10 rebounds. Anthony Hickey was all over the place. He had a career-high eight steals to go along with ten points.

Stat of the game: Texas A&M had 24 turnovers to LSU's 11. The Tigers went to their full court press early, after falling behind. LSU ended up with 19 steals.

What it means: A loss to the Aggies and the Tigers would have been staring at an 0-and-7 start in SEC play as Kentucky and Missouri are up next on the schedule. It was nice to see LSU finish a game, as they've had a few chances to win games in the SEC this year, but couldn't get it done down the stretch.
Up next: LSU will travel to Lexington to face Kentucky on Saturday afternoon. The Wildcats are defending national champs, but Kentucky doesn't look like a team that will reach the Sweet 16 this season. The Wildcats blew a nine-point halftime in Tuscaloosa and lost to Alabama 59-55 on Tuesday. The loss dropped Kentucky's overall record to 12-and-6, three and two in the Southeastern Conference.
