Sink hole 'burp' causes new worries

Concern about that 8 and half acre sink hole is ramping up after it burped up over the weekend.  Officials in Assumption Parish removed some of the heavy equipment around the sight after what's been described as a lot of seismic activity.

When the sink hole burped, it sent crude oil and debris into the air.  The director of the Assumption Parish Homeland Security said instead of more drilling and clean up, they're going to do more scientific testing.

''To gather a risk assessment, so to speak, to find out what potentially could happen there.''

John Boudreaux said there is concern about the sink hole expanding.

''It's showing signs that it may not be finished growing and it may grow an additional amount.''

Scientists say a failed underground salt cavern is to blame for the sink hole and they don't want it to grow to a point where it could swallow homes and businesses.
