Company's coming! Disney helps local service industry for free

An initiative  designed to make the city's service industry as ready as possible for the Super Bowl gets underway this week.

The Disney Institute is conducting free classes this week to train the 78,000 members of the local service industry on how to take their hospitality skills to the next level.

"We want the visitor's to come in to New Orleans as fans and leave as family, so you're going to hear the phrase, 'Company's Coming' a lot," says Kelly Schulz with the Convention and Visitor's Bureau.

This is no Mickey Mouse operation, as Disney is world-renowned for it's hospitality skills and the NFL brought the institute to Indianapolis last year for Super Bowl.  Schulz says that was a huge success, although naturally she wants to see New Orleans exceed those results.

The CVB is sponsoring the event.

"The nice thing about it is that when the Super Bowl leaves us we'll be able to tell future convention planners and we'll be able to tell other customers and other special event organizers that New Orleans workforce has been through this sophisticated Disney training."

The training on January 22 and 23, 2013 is for supervisors, small business owners, front line staff and others who will be working with Super Bowl guests.

Call 504-566-5076 to reserve your spot.

Training will be at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in the Conference Auditorium on the 200 level above Hall H. Parking is available across the street in convention center parking lot F.

Tuesday's session is for Management Training (small business owners or any employee in a supervisory role). There is a choice of two sessions: 9:00 a.m. - Noon or 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Wednesday's sessions are for the front line workers,  9:00 a.m. - 11 a.m., 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m., or 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
