How it happened: In a battle of two teams seeking their first SEC win, LSU’s offense struggled in a 67-58. The Tigers shot 36% and turned it over 21 times. Bulldogs sophomore guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope led all scorers with 22 points.
What it means: LSU is off to a 0-and-4 start in SEC play. They are the only team in the Southeastern Conference without a league win. The Tigers have failed to score more than 63 points in all but one of their league losses. Teams have learned that LSU struggles to score against a zone defense.
Most valuable Tigers: Power forward Johnny O’ Bryant had his best game in SEC play this season as he was able to stay out of foul trouble. He scored 16 points and 14 rebounds. Malik Morgan played well for the Tigers as he got the start for the injured Charles Carmouche. Morgan had 12 points, four rebounds and three steals.
Stat of the game: LSU had a stretch where they didn’t score for 6:38. That stretch occurred in the final seven minutes of the game.
Up next: LSU hosts Texas A&M on Wednesday. The Aggies are 12-and-5 overall, 2-and-2 in the SEC. A&M blew a double-digit 2nd half lead and lost to Alabama 50-49 on Saturday.
