We surveyed our prognosticating pontificators in the WWL Radio Sports Department for their picks in this weekend's playoff games in the divisional round. And like a roomful of economists arguing over monetary policy, they didn't always agree on their predictions. Here's what our pros had to say:
Patriots vs. Texans
The 'Cajun Cannon' Bobby Hebert: Houston - Like the Packers, I picked the Texans to make it to the Super Bowl at the start of the season. Honestly, I don't think they will beat Brady and the Patriots, but I can’t change my pick now!
'Big Chief' Deke Bellavia: New England - Tom Brady will get his record 17th playoff win. Texans will play better this time around, but the Patriots at home in the post season are a sure thing
Saints Sideline Reporter Kristian Garic: Brady and company make chowder out of Houston. I like the Pats kid!
'Big Daddy' Steve Geller: New England – Tom Brady at home in the playoffs…’nuff said.
Pack vs. the Niners
Bobby: Green Bay - I picked the Pack to go to the Super Bowl at the start of the year and am sticking with them. I also believe that Aaron Rodgers is THE best franchise QB currently. He has the arm and the ability to run.
Deke: San Francisco - I just don't think Green Bay will be able to run the ball against the 49ers and that will be the difference.
Kristian: ‘Niners D is too tough. My pick: NINERS!
Steve: San Francisco – my only pick that I’m not 100% sure about, going with the team that has a defense.
Seahawks vs. the Dirty Birds
Bobby: Seattle - If I picked Atlanta it would be disgraceful to the Who Dat Nation. I also believe Seahawks QB Russell Wilson will make the necessary plays when it counts.
Deke - Atlanta - The Hawks can run, the Falcons can't. The Hawks can rush the passer and they have a mobile QB. With that said I think Atlanta is due!
Kristian: Seahawks are the hottest team in the NFL. Yes I have man crush on Russell Wilson. Seahawks take this one.
Steve: Atlanta. Hate all you want, but the Dirty Birds are a good team that have had luck on their side all season long.
Broncos vs. Ravens
Bobby: Denver - I remember how hard it was to win in Denver PLUS Peyton Manning is a model of consistency. He's led teams to 12 wins or more for 10 years in a row...10 YEARS!
Deke: Denver - Peyton and the White Horses are one win away from one of the most-anticipated AFC Title Games since the last time Manning and Brady met in the AFC Title Game back in 2007.
Kristian: Two words, Peyton Manning.
Steve: Denver – Yes, the Ravens will still be riding the emotional high of Ray Lewis retiring, but the Broncos are almost unbeatable at Mile High.
