Flooding closes major roads in Baton Rouge & other areas



Several inches of rain in a very short period has led to the closure of roads in Baton Rouge, Livingston, Lafourche, and other areas.  Additional rainfall is expected in the areas with flooding, as all of Southeast Louisiana remains under a flash flood watch through Thursday evening.

Tangipahoa Parish Government is distributing sand bags at the parish road and bridge facilities in Hammond at 44512 West Pleasant Ridge Road and in Roseland at 63101 Commercial Street. today, Wednesday, January 9, 2013, from 3-5pm.

Lafourche Parish:  Tuesday night, Lafourche Parish experienced over 5” of rain in a 12 hour period. The north end of the parish is experiencing standing water in some neighborhoods from this morning’s downfall. The Parish is preparing for the next wave of storms that are predicted to pass through this area.
 
Barricades have been placed on the following roads in Thibodaux:

·        Brandywine
·        Parkside Dr
·        Louisa
·        Summerfield Rd.
·        East Winder
·        Emerald Park
