While foggy, soggy conditions are likely for the rest of Wednesday, potentially severe weather is expected to move into Southeast Louisiana for Thursday.

The Metro area has a 30% chance of showers for today, and 50% for tonight.  All of Southeast and South Louisiana is under a flash flood watch through Thursday evening. 

We're also under a dense fog advisory through 6:00 a.m. Thursday.

WWL-TV Meteorologist Alexandra Cranford says residents of Southeast Louisiana should be prepared for the possibility of strong storms on Thursday as a front moves through.

"By late Thursday morning, that line of showers and thunderstorms will move in, and could last into the afternoon and evening," Cranford says.

She says the biggest concern with the Thursday forecast is the possibility of strong winds and heavy rains.

"There is a possibility of street flooding with these storms," according to Cranford.

Cranford says the potential for severe weather will impact all of Southeast Louisiana as the line of potentially severe weather moves from west to east.

A flash flood watch remains in effect for Livingston, Tangipahoa, St James, St John, Terrebonne and northern Lafourche parishes through Thursday afternoon.  A dense fog advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service for Orleans, St. Bernard, & Plaquemines Parishes until 7pm Wednesday evening.
