Mayor Landrieu kicks off Carnival



It's official now!  New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu kicked off the 2013 Carnival season today with the ceremonial cutting of the king cake at Gallier Hall.   Landrieu told a crowd of City leaders and Carnival krewe members that we're going to be ready again for the world to come to town. The Mayor also made note of the Supercool tucked into the big party.

'' We are going to be the city that hosted more Super Bowls, other than Miami, than any other city in America and on top of that we are going to place that little bitty thing in the middle of the greatest free show on earth.''

Landrieu described New Orleans has one big family witnessing success.

''You should take a moment to savor what success looks like, a very short time ago we were under water.'' said Landrieu.

Landrieu said this season will be our time to shine and to show the nation how we came together, adding many improvement to the city that will benefit residents for a long time to come.
