Louisiana working on new I-D

Louisiana air travelers won't have to show a passport instead of a driver's license before boarding a domestic flight. That was avoided when the Department of Homeland Security pushed back a deadline for states to be in compliance with the federal "Real I-D" law.

Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles commissioner Stephen Campbell says the federal Department of Homeland Security has pushed back a January 15 deadline for states to be in compliance with the "Real I-D" law.  Campbell says that will give the state time to redesign driver's licenses to comply with the law.

"We have processes underway to improve Louisiana's integrity of its driver's license and ID system," Campbell said.  "The Louisiana document will have a new look, and we're in the process of choosing exactly what that'll look like."
