Don't drop yet! It's another big shopping day

The holidays aren't over yet and neither is the shopping.

Analysts predict malls and stores will be packed today.  The day after Christmas is traditionally one of the biggest shopping days of the year.  "It's kind of like the second Black Friday of the year," says Jim DeBetta, a retail commercialization expert.

One of the main drivers he says is gifts cards, as this year Americans spent $25-30 billion on the traditionally number one Christmas gift.

The other driver?  "The sales that go on, with deep discounts," and DeBetta says there are a couple of Internet sites that list where the best deals are going to be on the day after Christmas.

Research analyst Marshall Cohen of the market research firm NPD says retailers will have to be more aggressive than usual with discounts on the days after Christmas. That could mean some stores will cut prices by as much as 80 percent to clear inventory. He says consumers will be "rewarded for waiting."

And DeBetta says for those who have had their eye on something all season, this may be the final chance before the next season's items come in.
