If everything goes as planned the City of Kenner is about to annex some 80 acres of land along the shores of Lake Pontchartrain.

The key is development for the area called Laketown, officials  hope to attract new restaurants, retail shops even live entertainment.

Mayor Mike Yenni said he could envision a board walk style attraction.

''Kenner is very fortunate to have this beautiful stretch of land along the lakefront.''

Listen to Kenner Mayor Mike Yenni:

In 1994 Kenner developed the area where the Treasure Casino now sits and this new property will give Kenner yet another new economic boost to along with the addition of Coconut Beach.

''I would love to see some type of boardwalk type development with restaurants and we've had a lot of interest from restaurant owners who would like to be out there,'' said Yenni.

Yenni also envisions retail shops and live entertainment that would only add to what they have at the Treasure Chest Casino and Coconut Beach. The annexation from the state would be complete by the 20th of this month.
