Unruly Marrero woman shot by JPSO Officer

A 28-year-old Marrero woman was shot by a JPSO Officer shortly after 11:30 Friday night.

According to police, JPSO Officer Christy Clement stopped a vehicle in the 4600 block of the Westbank Expressway in Marrero after she witnessed Christina Mores using narcotics inside of the car shortly after 9 o'clock.

During the traffic stop, Clement reached into the car to arrest Mores, but was knocked to the ground when Mores opened the car door and began backing up into a parked car nearby.

The officer got up and managed to secure one handcuff on the driver's wrist. Mores resisted arrest a second time and pulled away striking the officer again with her car.

The suspect fled the scene, but was stopped by JPSO Officer Paul Dupuis at the intersection of Silverlilly Lane and Fourth Street in Marrero.

When Dupuis started questioning Mores, she drove away striking that officer with her car and knocking him to the ground. Dupuis drew his service weapon and fired two rounds at the suspect, striking her in the arm.

Mores drove away after being shot, but was stopped by assisting officers at Fourth Street & Bellina in Marrero. Mores was placed under arrest and transported to University Hospital for treatment.

Officer Clement was transported to West Jefferson Medical Center where she was treated and released for minor injuries.

Upon her release, Christina Mores will be booked with 2 counts of Attempted Murder of a Police Officer along with multiple traffic offenses.  This matter remains under investigation, with the possibility of Mores being charged additionally.
