For the past 20 years, the award recognizes college football's top placekicker. Santos was a perfect 21 for 21 on field goal attempts for the Green Wave this season. He connected for 27 out of 28 PAT attempts and led the nation with 12 field goals of 40 yards or more.
Santos is the second Greenie to win the award, named for Ohio State and Cleveland Browns kicker Lou "The Toe" Groza. Tulane's Seth Marler earned the honor in 2001.
