A short list of Letten replacements

Political analysts all seem to agree that filling Jim Letten's shoes will be no easy task.  John Maginnis with lapolitics.com said he has heard about a short list of potential candidates.

Maginnis said the replacement will be a Democrat.  One name he thinks is on the list is is state judge Kevra Landrum Johnson.

''She's got some prosectorial experience but others names include Desiree Charbonnet from Municipal Court and Karen Carter Peterson she's supposed to be on the short list,'' said Maginnis.

He also mentioned Attorneys Ken Boyle and Kenneth Polite.

Listen to interview with political analyst John Maginnis:

He has no doubt that the next U.S. Attorney will be a Democrat, selected by U.S. Senator Mary Landrieu and then approved by President Barack Obama.

''The pressure is on Landrieu because Jim Letten is a hard act to follow and it will be really incumbent to select someone who can win the public's trust,'' Maginnis said.

Maginnis said Letten goes out on his own terms and he's going to be known as the most famous crime fighter in Louisiana.
