Letten to resign amid scandal

U.S. Attorney Jim Letten has called a news conference for 10:30 this morning.  Sources tell WWL Radio News that Letten is resigning amid the scandal in his office.

Letten's former first Assistant Jan Mann and former veteran prosecutor Sal Perriconne have both admitted blogging about cases they were prosecuting.

The Justice Department is investigating and a federal judge has said they could face criminal charges.

Letten will have a 10:30 a.m. news conference at New Orleans federal court.  WWL Radio will carry it live.
