Snowballs, snowmen and angels in the snow will all be possible in New Orleans this evening.  

Loyola University is bringing in twenty tons of manufactured snow that will blanket the Marquette Horseshoe lawn on campus for the annual holiday event, creating a winter wonderland for faculty, staff, students and neighbors.
 
The annual Sneaux@Loyno event, sponsored by the University Programming Board, will take place tonight from 6-8 p.m and is open to the public free of charge.

There will be a lot more than just snow to enjoy, like "Hot chocolate, Christmas cookies, music, Santa will be there for children to take pictures.  We'll have Christmas carolers from the Genesis Gospel Choir which is a gospel choir here at the university," says Robert Reed with Loyola student affairs.

There will also be a face painting station and attendees will have the opportunity to make homemade Christmas ornaments.  

"This is one of our signature events in terms of annual traditions that we have at Loyola.  This is about the eighth time we've done the snow event."  Reed says it will feel like a traditional winter Christmas scene this evening, which we usually don't get to experience here in New Orleans.  "It's a great atmosphere....It gives you the kind of feeling of the beginning of Christmas and celebrating the birth of Jesus and preparing for that.  It makes it quite exciting here."

The  first 150 guests will receive free T-shirts.
