New Orleans police Tuesday afternoon released more information about the murder of a woman and shooting of another in New Orleans East Monday night. Detectives believe last night's killing was the result of a domestic violence.
Police say one of the victims, 25-year-old Renesha Nix, was arguing with her boyfriend, 22-year-old Keith Phillips. Detectives say she called her mother to come get her in a hope of avoiding the argument turning physical, but officer say when 40-year-old Tiesha Nix arrived in the 6800-block of Parc Brittany Boulevard around 10:00 p.m. Monday, Phillips shot the older Nix in the head, then shot Renesha Nix twice.
The older woman died, the daughter was critically wounded.
New Orleans Police Officer Frank Robertson says it's not the first time that Phillips has been in trouble on domestic violence allegations.
"He has been previously arrested for domestic violence and I believe there was a current warrant for domestic violence," Robertson said.
Crimestoppers (822-1111) is offering a reward of up to $2,500 for information leading to Phillips' arrest and indictment.
