Court documents unsealed today show that U.S. Attorney Jim Letten confirmed to a federal judge that his top assistant Jan Mann posted anonymously online under the name "eweman."
In a letter dated Nov. 20 to Judge Hayden Head, the senior U.S. District Court Judge for the Eastern District of Louisiana, Letten wrote:
"AUSA Mann posted on nola.com under the name "eweman." As a result, she was immediately removed as First U.S. Attorney and Criminal Cheif and the matter was referred to the Department of Justice's Office of Professional Responsibility in Washington."
It is the first time that Letten has acknowledged that Mann posted under the handle "eweman."

Mann has not publicly commented on the scandal or admitted to having posted on Nola.com.
The letter released today was also released with another letter written by Mann on July 2 of this year, also addressed to Judge Head.
In that letter, written and delievered before Mann's online activities became known, Mann argued against the removal of Letten's office from the investigation of Aaron Broussard following the revelation that fellow prosecutor Sal Perricone had been anonymously blogging online about ongoing cases.
