Gun play leads to teen's death

Gun play appears to be responsible for a Saturday afternoon death in New Orleans.

According to a release from the NOPD, two teens were apparently playing with a gun inside a home in the 2400 block of Odin Street when it went off, fatally wounding one of them.

A 16-year-old male told police that he thought the gun he took from a bedroom inside the house was unloaded. The gun discharged, fatally striking a 16-year-old male victim.

The surviving 16-year-old was taken to the Juvenile Division and an Arrest Warrant was secured for Negligent Homicide of a 16-year-old male.

The incident took place Saturday, at approximately 1:00 p.m.
The case is on-going and the case will be presented to the District Attorney's Office for review to determine if other charges should apply.
