NOPD: Fight between 2 women leads to major Uptown drug bust

The New Orleans Police Department says officers responding to a report of two women fighting in the street led to the discovery of an illegal drug business in an Uptown home.

A police spokesman says Second District officers responded to a fight between two women yesterday afternoon in the 2500 block of Milan Street.   Investigators say when the cops arrived, one woman ran into a house on Milan and hid under a bed.  The cops followed her and found her hiding under a bed, as well as a handgun and several bags of marijuana in plain view, according to Officer Remi Braden.

After obtaining a warrant, Braden says a K-9 unit searched the house further and found a second handgun, an M-16 assault rifle, 40 grams of crack cocaine, 42 grams of powder cocaine, and 2 bottles of liquid hydrocodone.

One of the guns had reportedly been stolen from Jefferson Parish.

Police booked 25-year-old Alfonso Stovall (left)  with 3 counts of Illegal Carrying of Weapons with a Controlled, Dangerous Substance,  Possession of Crack Cocaine, Possession with the Intent to Distribute Marijuana, Possession with the Intent to Distribute Cocaine and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

“Our officers didn’t know what they were stumbling onto when they responded to a call of two people arguing in the street.  But they followed through, and one thing quickly led to another,” said Superintendent Ronal Serpas in a statement.
