Northshore cops: 2 men get DWI in same vehicle

Mandeville police say two men are under arrest for DWI hit and run after both suspects drove the same vehicle while drunk in the space of a few minutes.

Cops say on Thanksgiving evening, 30-year-old Stephen Pierce Flint (above right) was behind the wheel when he crashed his Jeep into the side of the Red Barn Pub in Mandeville, causing minor damage.

That's when police say Donahue Miller (above left) a 21-year-old passenger in the Jeep, decided it would be better for him to drive.   Mandeville Police Lt. Gerald Sticker says witnesses told police that Miller hopped behind the wheel and drove the Jeep away from the scene of the crash.

However, investigators say Miller did not exactly fit the bill of "designated driver," as he registered a blood-alcohol level of .271% just a short time later.

Sticker says officers tracked both men down within minutes just a few blocks away at the Barley Oak, a nearby pub.

Flint was arrested charged with hit and run, 5th offense DWI, and "unlawful refusal to the intoxilyzer test."

Miller was charged with hit and run, first offense DWI, and simple criminal damage to property.
