Most of the college football season is over, with some rivalry games and conference championship games still to come, but for LSU, it's time for them to wait on a bowl invitation. So what are the likely landing places for the Fighting Tigers come bowl season?
With LSU at number 7 in the BC standings, you think a slot in one of the BCS games, maybe here at the Sugar Bowl, would be a lock, right? Not so fast, says Jerry Palm of CBSsports.com.
"Really, it's uh, it's quite the jumble," Palm said.
With Alabama, Georgia and Florida all ranked higher (2, 3 and 4, respectively) -- and conferences only sending two teams to a BCS game, Palm expects LSU to be left out of the BCS this season. Palm says if the Cotton Bowl can't make a Texas-Texas A&M matchup happen, the Tigers could be headed to the Dallas area for the January 4 game.
"If that doesn't happen, then the Chick-Fil-A bowl is the next most likely spot," Palm suspects.
The Chick-Fil-A Bowl, formerly the Peach Bowl, is in Atlanta December 31.
