Here’s what our WWL family is thankful for this year. Thank you for letting us be a part of your family during the holidays and all year long! We all also extend our special thanks and gratitude to the men and women of our armed forces serving away from their families this holiday weekend.
Bobby Hebert, co-host, SportsTalk - I guess every year you have your health, you have to be thankful for that. I’m thankful for safe travel for all the family coming in from all over the country. I’m in good spirits and feel good…it’s always better when the Saints are winning, so I’m thankful for that! And I’m thankful for all the military does every day to protect our freedoms. We’re able to spend the holidays with our families because of the sacrifices they make, so I’m thankful for all they and their families do for us.
Jordan Fiegel, “Tommy Tucker Show” Producer - I’m thankful for having a job I love and coworkers who are fun to work with. I’m also thankful for my health and my family.
Shana Rose, News Reporter/Anchor - It was just two years ago this month that I marched back into the WWL studios, eager to dive into all things NOLA and welcomed back by so many beautiful, familiar faces. It’s been a time of highs and lows (and I’m not just referring to the Saints!), with the city’s recovery now dubbed an actual renaissance by so many, but with still so much senseless, heartbreaking crime. But my deepest gratitude this holiday season is for those who serve our country, and their families. May we all include them on this year’s gift list.
Tommy Tucker, Morning Show Host - I’m thankful that God blessed me with a beautiful daughter who makes ME a better person everyday. She does that through the optimism she exudes and the positive things she finds in some very negative situations. She can be strong and courageous while still maintaining a sense of poise and grace. I have never known anyone to treat people more fairly, always willing to see their point of view and give them the benefit of the doubt. I’m constantly surprised at the wisdom she exhibits which is far beyond her 16 years. Thank you, Lord for this most precious of gifts.
Chris Miller, News Reporter/Anchor - I'm thankful for how good I have it, and thankful for my opportunities to make it better.
Steve Geller, Sports Reporter / Producer - People laugh when they ask me, "How you doing, Steve?" and my response is always, "LIVING THE DREAM." I truly have so much to be thankful for but nothing tops my wife, Jessica…and 2 year old lil’ man, Jackson. They are always there with a big squeeze and a smile when I need it most.
Don Ames, News Reporter/Anchor - I'm thankful that my family has remained close, though it's now spread from coast to coast and north to the Great Lakes. I'm thankful for the opportunities I've been given to give back to the community, through my job and the church. I'm thankful for the lasting friendships I've made through my years in the radio industry. And, I'm thankful I have God in my life...for the many blessings He has bestowed on me...His love and His mercy.
Garland Robinette, Host of “The Think Tank” - I’m thankful for my two girls; my wife and daughter. They have been my constant support through some very hard times. I really believe that few find true love in this life. I’m one of the lucky ones…my two loves.
Diane Newman, Program Director/Operations Manager - Once you’ve had breast cancer, you learn to be grateful for the little things…eye brows, hair, taste buds, no chemo, radiation or Neulasta shots. Yeah! You also learn to be grateful not only for those you love, but those who love you back. I’m grateful for the people…family and true friends who show up…even now that the “danger” seems to be over. I am grateful for the amazing doctors who helped to save my life (Alan Stolier, Milton Seiler, Ellen Zakris). I’m grateful for a caring, talented and collaborative staff and an extraordinary company (Entercom), who know how to walk in another man (or woman’s) moccasins. I am just…thankful. God bless us all!
Mike Weldon, Traffic Reporter - To try and sum up what I am thankful for isn’t going to be easy. Of course I am thankful for my family and friends, but I am also thankful for the people I work with. We spend a lot of time together and have also become friends. We share laughs, jokes, and sometimes we even cry together, but through it all we are able to push forward and make the best of whatever comes up.
Monica Pierre, Host - I am thankful for a great family, good health, laughter and ways to encourage others. This year, I am particularly thankful for my father who recently celebrated his 85th birthday.
Deke Bellavia, Co-Host, “SportsTalk” - I am thankful to be alive first of all. I could not be in the position I am in without the help of my wife Richelle. Richelle puts up with me, she raises our two little girls and she runs our home. And speaking of Emma and Jackie I am most thankful for you. Daddy wishes he could be with you more and I am working hard every day and night to make that happen. But I want both of you to know that you are the reason why I do what I do and everything is going to be alright. I'm thankful for Kristian Garic and Steven Geller for all the hard work and time they put in to make our sports department solid. And I must also thank Dr. Leon Shingledecker, Dr. Tom Lavin, Dr. Teri Dyess and Dr. Nick Cefalu. Without those doctors I would not be alive. I know who I am and how I sound and I am very thankful that the people I work for trust me to do the job I do. And a special thanks to Mamma D. Not many people understand who I am and what I have been through but Mamma D does. It gets hard sometimes and it's comforting to know you are there to listen. So I wish everyone out there a very Happy Thanksgiving.
Amber Brashear, Producer - I’m thankful for my husband, my mom and my best friend Ms. Beasley. They are the absolute BEST and I would be a wreck without them. I’m also thankful I work with people that make me laugh hysterically every day; work is NEVER boring with our crew. Lastly, I’m thankful for the internet, without which I would have to elbow other people for Christmas gifts on Black Friday.
Ian Hoch, Producer - This year, I'm most grateful for open minds. At work, at home, and at play, I am surrounded by people with a huge variety of differing views on topics ranging from religion to relationships, politics to pleasure. Even when we disagree, it is always clear that everyone's opinions are valuable, and the sometimes passionate and heated dialogue that follows is an indispensable part of life and it isn't so hard to elevate it to something that brings us closer instead of drives us apart. In 2013, try new things, talk to new people, and always take a second to think that you might be wrong.
Scoot, Host of “The Scoot Show” - I am truly thankful for so many things that for this purpose I will narrow the list down. I am most thankful for my son and who he has become. I came back to New Orleans and literally started over and have a kitchen for the first time in several years so I am thankful that this year I can renew my long tradition of cooking a turkey! I am thankful for my health and very thankful for the spirit, optimism and belief in myself that are all a Blessing from God.
Kristian Garic – Host, Sports Reporter, and Saints Sideline Reporter - I am thankful first and foremost for my three wonderful boys, Hunter, Hayden and Holden. The joy they bring to my life is hard to put into words. I’m thankful for my Mother and Father for being the steady influence in my life growing up and as adult. I am also thankful for the fine men and woman in our armed services that fight for our freedom each and every day, keeping America the greatest country on the planet. Furthermore, I’m thankful for my job with WWL. I'm thankful that Entercom, gave a Marine with little to no experience an opportunity to cover the Saints both home and away and be a part of the legend that is WWL, a station I grew up listening to. And, I’m thankful for being an American!! Semper Fi!
Mark Menard, Producer - I'm thankful for my family and especially my wife Aimée for supporting my dream of making it in this crazy business. I'm thankful for a home that's warm in the winter, cool in the summer, and dry when it's raining. I'm thankful to be born in the greatest country in the world, where we are free to celebrate the good things in life with the people who matter most and a feast that would make the denizens of Whoville proud. And at the end of the day, after all the catching up with loved ones has been accomplished, after all the football has been played, and particularly after all the many pounds of turkey, stuffing, side dishes, and, of course, pies have been consumed, we should all be extremely thankful for indoor plumbing.
Helen Centanni, Executive Producer, “The Think Tank With Garland Robinette” - I'm grateful every day for the extraordinary people that I work with. We've been in the trenches together since Katrina and I'm so proud to be a part of a station (WWL) and team that sincerely has the city and the listeners' best interest at heart. We truly are 'family.'
I'm grateful for my family. I wouldn't have been able to achieve everything I have without their unwavering support and love. I'm grateful for my friends. What value is friendship? Priceless! I'm grateful for the 2 1/2 years I got to take care of my dying sister. I learned the importance of each moment and what truly matters in life. I'm grateful for the lessons in compassion, love, and patience. She taught me the meaning of dignity and grace.
I'm grateful to be blessed with good health, boundless energy and tremendous inner strength. I'm blessed ten thousand-fold and for that I am sincerely grateful.
David Blake, News Reporter/Anchor - I'm giving thanks for the health of my entire family. My mother is now 90 years young and going very strong and that's something that blows my mind.
Although my daughter is far away in Hawaii with her husband, my younger son is still with us at home and we have plans for the traditional feast with all the trimmings. It's just such a special time of year to be with the ones you love.
Dave Cohen, News Director - I am most thankful for my wonderful family! I also give thanks for my fantastic job at WWL, which allows me to provide for my wife and kids and love what I am doing too. I am thankful as well for this amazing place where we live and the unique, passionate and fun-loving people making up our audience and community.
Todd Menesses, Producer, Assistant Program Director, & Host - I am thankful to be a part of the WWL team, I’ve worked other stations and this is the only one where my co-workers feel like an extended part of my family. I’m also thankful for living in this great country in this day and age when so many new things are being discovered and invented. I’m thankful for the New Orleans Saints…win, lose or draw! But most of all I am thankful to my Heavenly Father and my beautiful wife and three daughters who keep me grounded in all things.
Spud McConnell, Host of “Talk Gumbo” - I’m thankful that I can make a living doing the thing that I love: performing, either behind a microphone, in front of a camera or on a stage. But I’m especially thankful for my wife, Mo and our three young’uns, Ali, Jackboy and Annie. They give me even more reasons to try to be better than I was yesterday.
Scott Colomb, Web Master - I am thankful for knowing God, being born an American, and for parents who have loved me and worked hard to provide for me and my family. I'm also thankful for football, and the awesome food I am going to eat on turkey day!
Terrell Robinson, Traffic Reporter -
I’m thankful for my wife, who always has my back, my parents who are still with me, and my son and daughter….who have never been in jail.
Jay Vise, Digital Content Manager/Reporter - I’m thankful to work with an incredible group of people whom I consider family. I feel very fortunate to be living and working in one of the most interesting and historic cities in the world. And, I’m very thankful to have a large and close-knit family, and thankful for the love of Lisa, a very sweet woman who somehow puts up with my puns and bad jokes.
