Suspect pleads guilty in murder of St. John deputies, charges dropped against another

A woman charged in connection with the deadly shooting of two St. John the Baptist deputies has reportedly pleaded guilty.

WWL-TV reports Chanel Skains (above, left) admitted to be an accessory after the fact to attempted first degree murder.

Meanwhile the state has reportedly refused charges against another woman in the case, according to the WWL-TV report.

Teniecha Bright (above, right) had been charged as a principal to attempted first degree murder.  However, Bright is now reportedly being held as a material witness in the case.

Authorities say five suspects still face murder charges in the shooting deaths of Deputies Jeremy Triche and Brandon Nielsen.  The two officers were killed in what police describe as an "ambush."

Two other deputies were wounded in the shootings on August 16.
