Video: Thieves steal ATM with truck from Bayou St. John store

NOPD detectives are asking for the public's help in identifying two or more subjects who used a pickup truck to yank an ATM early this morning.   (Scroll down to view video of the crime.)

Police say it happened in the 2700 block of Ursulines Avenue at a Soprano's grocery store.

In surveillance video released by detectives, a white truck is seen pulling into the parking lot and backing up to the front of the business.   A chain attached to the truck is used to pull the front door open at which time the suspect enters the business and wraps the chain around the ATM.  The truck then pulls the ATM out of the store.

On the video, the driver also appears to nearly back over both his accomplice and the ATM.

Police say one suspect is a white male wearing a ‘boonie” style hat, a scarf and a black leather jacket.  The driver is described as white, wearing a blue hooded seatshirt and black jeans with designs on the rear pocket.

The truck is described as having black rims, dark tinted windows and individual "nerf bars" below each door.

Anyone with information about this crime are asked to call Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111.
