Dog taken in carjacking found alive

"Skeeter," the dog taken when a woman was carjacked in New Orleans nearly two weeks ago, has been found alive and well.

Skeeter's owner, Meg Hall, tells WWL First News that a Mid-City family found the Chihuahua-Jack Russell Terrier mix on Sunday and contacted her.

Hall says that Skeeter was dirty and skinny, but otherwise OK.

The Mid-City family was reportedly out walking their dog not far from where the carjacking took place twelve days ago when they found Skeeter.

"I'm so happy to have him," Hall said.  "He's tired, but he looks good...It's so happy to see him."

According to Hall, a vet says all of Skeeter's blood work is good.

Hall told us that she's received a lot of calls from people who found other dogs that turned out not to be Skeeter.

"I didn't know if I could believe it or not...We've all been looking at countless dogs."

She thanked everyone for spreading the word about Skeeter.
