Veterans Day Observances:
Saturday, Nov. 10, 10am - Lt. Governor Jay Dardenne, retired Lt. General Russel Honore and the Louisiana Bicentennial Commission hosts wreath laying. Location: Veterans Memorial Square in Jefferson Parish (Vets and Causeway).
Saturday, Nov. 10 - One of the largest Military Parades in Louisiana's history will roll in New Orleans on Saturday to celebrate our state's 200th birthday starting at 3:30 p.m. The parade will take a historic route by starting in the French Quarter and running through the Downtown and the Warehouse Districts of New Orleans, ending at the National WWII Museum.
Sunday, Nov 11 - The 2nd Annual St. John Parish Veterans Day Parade and Celebration will be held on Sunday, beginning at 2:00 p.m. to honor St. John’s local veterans. The parade will begin at Home Depot in LaPlace and travel down Airline Highway to the Southeast Louisiana (SELA) War Veterans Home in Reserve. Residents are invited to wave American Flags and salute the veterans in the procession of convertibles, jeeps, motorcycles, and service oriented vehicles travel along Airline Hwy. All are welcome to gather on the SELA War Veterans Home grounds for a small ceremony honoring the Veterans at approximately 2:30 p.m. which will conclude with food and music.

Saturday: The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office 6th Annual Day at the Park will be held this Saturday, November 10, from 11:00am to 3:00pm. The event is open to the public and provides the citizens of Jefferson Parish and our neighbors insight into the daily workings of the JPSO. Live demonstrations beginning at noon by JPSO SWAT, LASER and Traffic Enforcement. Mobile Command vehicles will also be on display allowing our guest a look inside at many of these JPSO state-of- the-art vehicles. Free food - burgers, hot dogs, chicken and fries along with soft drinks, and water available for all.
