Andrew Kreig, Director of the Justice Integrity Project, says there "absolutely" is a double standard for justice when it comes to those working within the ranks of the DOJ.
"Top public officials can be very charming, very nice...all of the indications of being a nice person, very impressive," Kreig told WWL Morning Show Host Tommy Tucker. "You could be seeing the tip of the iceberg here of a long-standing culture of cover-up that, year-in, year-out...not just in New Orleans, but nationwide...a mentality, 'We're up against the bad guys, and we've got to do whatever we need to do, and if there's problems, let's stick together.'"

After two of U.S. Attorney Jim Letten's top prosecutors were caught making anonymous online posts about ongoing investigations, Kreig says he thinks the DOJ means to sweep the whole thing under the rug.
"I'm very sad to report that I don't think they're serious at all about getting to the bottom of these things," Kreig said. "I'm very sad to report that the place where Jim Letten has referred this, the Justice Department Office of Responsibility...to insiders, including the ABA Journal, that's known as the "roach motel," because it's the place...where complaints go but they never come out. So nothing happens. It's basically, and it's very well-documented, a cover-up place for Justice Department wrong-doing masquerading as an investigative unit."
After a terse written statement this week announcing the demotion of top assistant Jann Mann, Letten's office and the DOJ have refused comment on the issue.
