Nearly 310,000 people voted on the issue of whether to extend tolls on the Crescent City Connection. In the latest count the measure won by just 8 votes. Secretary of State Assistant Meg Casper said they still have more counting to do.
''We still have military and overseas ballots, which can be received until 8:00 p.m. tonight," Casper said.
Listen to Meg Casper with the Louisiana Secretary of State's Office:
Casper said there are the mail-in ballots to consider, and then they have to unseal the voting machines on Friday for another look-see.
''It could be next week before we know official results. Again, those military and overseas and provisional ballots can be counted through Tuesday, November 13th...it could easily be next week,'' said Casper.
When the vote is final, it could mean 20 more years of tolls on the Crescent City Connection, or no more tolls at all.
