Tolls or no tolls?

In the wee hours of this morning, it appeared that opponents of tolls on the Crescent City Connection Bridge had won by a razor-thin margin of just 45 votes.

However, it now appears that the toll measure may have passed by a tiny margin of just eight votes.

The Louisiana Secretary of State website originally reported after midnight that with 100% of precincts reporting, the "No" votes had a margin of 874 votes.  An early rough count of absentee and early voting tabbed the decision on the tolls' future was at just 45 votes.

WWL-TV  political analyst and Gambit columnist Clancy DuBos was at the Clerk of Court's office well into the night watching the count.

As of 4:00 a.m. Wednesday morning the vote had swung in favor of keeping the tolls, as absentee, mail-in, e-mailed and written military ballots were counted by hand.
