Report: Benson considering making Payton highest-paid coach in NFL

A report is out saying that Saints owner Tom Benson is considering making Sean Payton highest-paid coach in the NFL. 

According to league sources cited by Mike Freeman of CBS Sports, Benson wants to head off any possible competitors who might be interested in Payton, after the NFL ruled that Payton's 2011 contract extension was null and void. 

So far, no comment from either the team, Benson, or Payton on the matter.
