According to Glazer, Payton had this to say: "Listen...I absolutely plan on being a New Orleans Saint. This is a franchise I helped rebuild from the ground up with Mickey Loomis, with the Benson family...I love working wih the Benson family and Mickey Loomis."
Payton reportedly told Glazer that that issue has been around since his 2011 contract was announced, well before the "bounty-gate" scancal.
According to Glazer, Payton said that the league "had never really ratified" Payton's contract extension due to the sticking point.
The issue that reportedly triggered the action by the NFL was a clause that would have allowed Payton to exit his contract if GM Mickey Loomis was fired, suspended, or left the Saints organization.
When asked for a comment at the Gleason Gras event at Champions Square Sunday evening, Payton replied, "Are you serious? Right now? Really?"
