Survey: Most workers choose better boss over more pay

A new study by tellyourboss.com shows a lot of us apparently don't like our boss very much.  And those workers are so emphatic they're willing to stake money on it.

According to the study conducted by Michelle McQuaid, who conducts  positive psychology interventions in the workplace, bosses are leaving Americans feeling unappreciated, uninspired, lonely, and miserable.

Of those responding to the study, 65% say a better boss would make them happy while 35% chose a pay raise.

"This current situation in the workplace is taking an incredible personal toll on employees, and for organizations it is costing $360 billion a year in lost productivity," said McQuaid.

Only about a third of Americans are happy at their job according to the study, and in the CBD I've been finding similar results.

I asked folks, what would make you happier, a better boss or a pay raise?  One worker downtown told me, "In my situation, I'd want a better boss...My boss sucks, she's horrible."  Another woman tells me, "I have a great boss.  She respects us and we respect her. It's wonderful, I wouldn't change jobs for anything...I would take that pay raise however!"
