Endymion officials today unveiled the designs for "the largest, most extravagant Mardi Gras float in history."

Based upon the theme, "Pontchartrain Beach, Then and Now," the float will measure more than 330 feet.  Officials say the monster float will be able to carry more than 230 riders.  (Scroll down to view a video preview of the float.)

The Super-Krewe also announced that pop star Kelly Clarkson will be the 2013 celebrity Grand Marshal when the parade rolls on the Saturday night before Fat Tuesday. 

Clarkson was the first winner of the Fox reality show "American Idol'' in 2002. Her hits include "A Moment Like This'' and "Because of You.''  

She will perform at the Endymion Ball at the Superdome after the parade.
